Don’t you love this time of year? We’re on the backside of Miami’s merciless summer. We have the refreshing tropical showers to look forward to each day. The kids are heading back to school. And before we know it, we’ll be done with yet another Hurricane season. Yeahya! What a great time of the year this is!

Another reason I love this time of year, is because it’s time to kickoff another exciting year of ministry. This year we’re kicking things off right by launching this new blog. Stay tuned as we roll out each post.

In addition to our blog, we have some rocking ministries AND a newly completed renovation AND our new and improved times for worship. Oh ya, did I mention we’re also getting ready to begin a new sermon series from the Book of Acts? That’s right, Acts!!

Here’s why I’m fired up about Acts. Acts is a historical record of the early church following the resurrection of Jesus. But believe me, this is no dusty history book like the ones we used to carry around in High school. This book is the earth shattering, window rattling, and life altering word of God AND this fall we’re going to be tearing into it one verse at a time!

Come join us as we kick off this new ministry year. Come see what happens when believers are IGNITED by power of the Holy Spirit to bear witness to the good news of Jesus among those who are lost. Lets just say, the world as they knew it then AND the world as we know it now are about to be turned upside down.

Lets trust that the same God who IGNITED the church in Acts, can do the same today in us as we live for Him. We hope to see you soon!

As we move into our third year and newly renovated worship space it is exciting to consider how we as the body Christ have been blessed with the servant attitude of so many of the members here at HBCM. As the director of EMM (Every Member Ministry) I see constantly how His people are willing to roll up their sleeves and “through love serve one another”. Gal 5:13b. It is an honor and an encouragement to work along the sides of so many who have responded to the call, to do “the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ”. Eph. 4:12b. Our goal in our new Harvest Hall is to continue to provide many more opportunities to work for, walk with, and worship Jesus Christ.

The Harvest Bible Chapel worship theme for this year is IGNITE!...

“to arouse the passions of; to excite”.

And if that doesn’t arouse your passion or excite you, Jason will be preaching/teaching from the book of Acts. Acts contains at least 43 references to the Holy Spirit, who, not coincidentally is associated with, among other things, “fire”, (Matt 3:11) and “tongues of fire.” (Acts 2:3)

Some other things the bible says about Him are that He speaks to us, (Mark 13:11), teaches us (John 14:26), and renews us (Titus 3:5) with “power” (Acts 1:8) and “joy” (1 Thess. 1:6)

If you’re like me, you may often overlook, or not give credit to Him for the stuff He’s doing in your life, on your job, and in our church.

Look where we are now as a church and where we’ve come from: meeting in a home with 10-15 people to having our own (almost) worship facility with around 100 worshipers, a nursery, children’s ministry, small groups and elders. That wasn’t us!

The small group leaders, the desire to disciple, the thirst for God’s word, the transformed lives, a pastor that’s on fire for His word, and all those involved in Every Member Ministry…that’s Him!

Paul teaches in Romans (14:17) that “the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness peace and joy in the Holy Spirit”

My prayer for Harvest this year is that we be good listeners, learning from Him, growing in Him and that we be transformed with His power and joy.

In the New Testament we find a plethora of verses indicating how our relationships with other believers ought to be. Many verses you might even have memorized, such as loving one another, preferring one another, forgiving one another. So much of this is being preached all over the world on Sundays. But how many of these commandments do we exercise on a weekly basis? Here at Harvest Bible Chapel Miami, these verses are not just marked in our Bibles but in our ministry DNA as well. We have found that the best way to have the meaningful relationships that characterized the church in Acts is by Small Groups. Yes, I know you may have heard of them before or even attended some at another church. But I must clarify that Small Groups at Harvest are probably like nothing you've ever experienced before. Relationships in Small Groups transcend the level of acquaintances and even casual friendships to soul-caring, burden-sharing, counsel-offering, Christ-exalting friendships. It's what Christ desired for us when He prayed that we might be one as The Father and Him were one (John 17:20). If you desire the life-transforming power of Christian fellowship, then you will want to visit our Small Groups. The early church revolutionized the second century with their testimony of love and care, let us be the church that IGNITES Miami for Christ through our Small Groups.

"By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another" John 13:35

Our challenge at HBCM within the children’s ministry is to approach your Child’s spiritual development seriously, yet never boring them with the Word of God. Generations of Grace helps us do just that. It is a biblicly sound curriculum that meets each child at their maturity level, yet also teaches them in reverence. Generations of Grace curriculum is not only a powerful tool for teaching our children but also provides us as teachers helpful background information on each lesson. My own experience in teaching has been an amazing spiritual and learning journey that has blessed my life.  Come Ignite your spiritual life and be part of children’s ministry!

Hello family!  Wanda and I are excited about the upcoming new fall season.  We have a new series that we hope will “Ignite” the students for Jesus and make them “Get a Grip” of His word.  Sometimes we all get complacent and need something to get us going.  Thank God for His Holy Spirit that He has given us to walk in this journey we call life.  He is our source for the power of living “Ignited” for Him.  We hope that His word will not only get the students in a closer relationship with the Father, but also closer to be like His Son.  We think that this new series at church goes perfectly with what we want to instill in the students: to get them fired up to be witnesses and servants for the Lord and turn the world around them upside down for Jesus’ glory and to get them motivated to share their faith boldly and in love.  Please pray for our new season and that the Lord may grow our love for Him and each other greatly.

Tony and I have experienced some important truths as Small Group leaders: One, we are totally dependent on Him and each other - we cannot do it alone and we must work as a team. Two, the Lord will bring whom He wills to our Small Group, and He has blessed us with men and women eager to go deep into His Word and to do His will. How do we measure success? If we are actively dedicated to training our apprentices so that we may grow and multiply, and if we are committed to leading the group to pursue a deeper relationship with the Lord - to fall in LOVE with the Lord - and have that ignite and influence ourselves and others, then we have been faithful with the charge that has been laid upon us.

Our SG has been growing in depth and breadth since we started meeting at our house around 6 months ago. From an initial group of five members including ourselves, we are now 12. Our members hail from Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Haiti, Honduras, Puerto Rico and the USA. What a blessing and a pleasure to see how the Holy Spirit has intertwined our hearts in such a short time! We are truly doing life together – meeting with each other often, encouraging each other as we face trials, and rejoicing with each other as we receive the Lord’s mercy and grace. We are seeing the promised transformation, the evidence of Grace, happening before our very eyes! What a great and faithful God we serve! “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35

“Now the full number of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they had everything in common”- Acts 4:32.

This beautiful verse summarizes the essence of what I have experienced as a member of the Harvest Bible Chapel Miami Community.  Before making that decision to join as a member I was doing the Christian walk on my own. While time alone with God is important and necessary God has much to say about the body of Christ . In the past two years I have seen an overwhelming amount of compassion, care, service and love from the HBCM family.

I have been privileged to be able to serve my brothers and sisters and they in turn provide me with more than I can express in words. I’m hoping this year that we will IGNITE flames that only the Holy Spirit could energize not as individuals but as one heart and soul.
“They had everything in common,” sharing burdens, joys, triumphs, and defeats. I have learned through HBCM that God demands that I have a heart for his people.  He is turning my heart from selfishness to selflessness.

The members at HBCM have opened their hearts, homes, their downfalls and triumphs, in a way that spews transparency. So through the births, deaths, hardships, joyful moments and unexpected events I pray that we trust in the Lord to be able to serve still. That God would IGNITE a flame that is continuously kindled towards his will for US.

It has been said that you can tell a lot about a person’s walk with Christ by looking at their calendar and their checkbook.  We in the finance team have seen a lot of growth in people’s lives in the area of giving.  It’s been especially encouraging to catch a glimpse of God’s glory during the special offerings our church has collected.  From the time we were a core group trying to gather enough money to launch our baby church to the collections for disaster stricken churches in Haiti and Japan, we have seen over and over again God providing for His own through His own.  Perhaps the most encouraging thing was the faithful giving from people and churches abroad that helped Harvest Bible Chapel Miami get off the ground.  These brothers and sisters in Christ have been true partners in the gospel.  We look forward to seeing our Great Provider continue to work in us, through us, and for us as we seek to impact our community for Christ.

We thank God for the lives the translation ministry has reached. Through this ministry God has helped us to carry out His Great Commandment by taking the Gospel to our Spanish speaking brothers and sisters and making disciples. Also this ministry has provided our Spanish Small Groups the tools they need to study the Word of God. We pray God would stir the hearts of more saints so they can join the ministry and be instruments for blessing others. Also we pray Our Lord to keep on using us and making us fit for this important ministry so He will be glorified in everything we do.

Having giving our lives to Christ, there is a process of surrendering that we must walk through.  We choose to give Him our heart when we believe that we are sinners and we understand that the only path to forgiveness flows through His blood on Calvary.  And then He, through grace and mercy,  patiently and sweetly brings us into deeper, more intimate fellowship with Himself.  He draws us close by revealing the hidden places of our hearts, the places we have yet surrendered to Him, and by His wounds we are healed.

We hold tightly to our treasures - money, sex, food, pride - determined to cling to the very things that destroy us.  Jesus goes there, to the dirty and the broken places, and says - I am enough.  He asks us to unclench our fists filled with the fear and failure and pain of sin and open our hands, palms facing heavenward and...receive.  Receive His forgiveness, His LOVE, His righteousness, His purity, His victory.  His Grace.  Dear friends, Jesus Christ is more than enough for you, no matter the secrets you harbor in your hearts.

My prayer for our body at Harvest is that, as we work our way through the book of Acts, we would see the magnificent POWER of the Holy Spirit and understand that this very same Spirit dwells within each of us.  Let us allow Him to IGNITE our hearts to do His sanctifying work so that our lives as a body of believers at Harvest will magnify our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Being part of the HBCM family has been amazing blessing to my life. Being part of the core group that started the church, it has been awesome to see God’s hand in everything that has taken place as this church grows. Through God’s Word and amazing sisters and brothers in the faith, I’ve been able to grow more in my relationship with God. Being accountable to others has impacted my walk with Christ by allowing me to grow through building relationships that I know I can count with in time of need, that can encourage me and pray for me as well.

Serving at HBCM has also been a blessing to my life and am happy to see that God can use me along with other faithful servants in His kingdom work.

I’m excited about our new ministry year: IGNITE!  I know that through God’s Word, I will learn to be more passionate and bold when it comes to sharing the good news to others around me. I want God to ignite in me a passion for the lost souls and seek His guidance and trusting HIM to do His will in my life.
